Slate is a natural stone that can be ground to a precision flat surface. Unlike MDF or Slatron, it does not warp over time from humidity or temperature changes. A 1-inch slate bed provides consistent ball roll and accurate play for the life of the table.
The playing surface is 88 by 44 inches. You will need additional clearance on all four sides for comfortable cueing. A standard 58-inch cue requires roughly 5 feet of clear space from each rail to the nearest wall or obstacle.
The weight comes from the 1-inch slate bed and solid wood construction. This mass is deliberate. A heavier table stays planted during play, eliminating wobble or drift that lighter tables experience during breaks and bank shots.
